The highly anticipated Big Bash League (BBL) Men’s 2023-24 season is set to kick off on December 7 with a blend of cricketing excellence, fierce competition, and exciting new additions.
The BBL will start with a 40-team league match in which each team will play two other teams twice and the remaining five teams once apiece.

BBL 2023-24: Format
The BBL Men’s 2023/24 season brings about a significant change in its format, aiming to enhance competitiveness and maintain the league’s appeal.
- Number of Matches: The BBL league kicks off with a 40-match stage where each team faces two opponents twice and the remaining five teams once, ensuring a comprehensive round-robin format.
- Number of Games per Team: In a strategic move to intensify competition, each team will participate in 10 games, facing four opponents once and the remaining three opponents twice.
- Playoffs Restructuring: Departing from the previous five-game playoff format, the BBL now features four playoff games. The top four teams from the league stage will advance to the playoffs.
- Advancement to the Final: The top two teams will enjoy a dual chance to reach the final, while the third and fourth teams must secure two consecutive victories for a coveted spot in the grand finale.
- Qualifier, Knockout, and Challenger Stages: The Qualifier stage will witness a showdown between the top two teams on the points table. Simultaneously, the Knockout stage will feature a contest between the third and fourth-ranked teams. The loser of the Qualifier will then face the winner of the Knockout in the Challenger, vying for the remaining spot in the summit clash.
