1. Virat Kohli (38 sixes in IPL 2016)
The legendary batter of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Virat Kohli had a fairytale run in IPL 2016. He slammed 973 runs with his willow and smashed 38 sixes in that process. 38 sixes are the maximum that an Indian batter has smashed in a season and it is honestly no surprise that it is Virat Kohli with this record.
Kohli had smashed 4 hundreds in that season and had activated his beast mode in IPL 2016. Unfortunately, RCB fans couldn’t get the finally cherry on the top as the side lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the finals of IPL 2016.
2. Rishabh Pant (37 sixes in IPL 2018)
Known for his buccaneering abilities with the bat, Rishabh Pant had smashed 37 sixes in IPL 2018 for Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals). Pant had amassed 684 runs in that season and was a force to reckon with in the Delhi team.
In Match 42 of IPL 2018, Rishabh Pant was at his imperious best when he scored an unbeaten knock of 128* runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). His maiden IPL ton was peppered with 15 fours and 7 sixes.
3. Shivam Dube (35 sixes in IPL 2023)
The Indian all-rounder, Shivam Dube, had a major resurgence at Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Under the tutelage of MS Dhoni, Dube was a batting mainstay of Chennai Super Kings and went through an incredible batting transformation.
On the back of his impeccable batting at CSK, he staged a comeback into the Indian T20I squad and is now also a part of the Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Shivam Dube had smashed 35 sixes in IPL 2023.
4. Ambati Rayudu (34 sixes in IPL 2018)
The year Chennai had staged a comeback into the IPL after a 2-year hiatus, they had lifted the IPL trophy. Ambati Rayudu was one of their shining stars as he scored 602 runs in that season and was a vital cog in the wheels of CSK.
Rayudu had smashed 34 sixes in IPL 2018 and stands 4th in this illustrious list of Indian batters with maximum number of sixes in an IPL season.
5. Shubman Gill (33 sixes in IPL 2023)
One of the key reasons why Gujarat Titans (GT) qualified for the finals of IPL 2023 was because of the exceptional batting prowess displayed by Shubman Gill. Having scored 890 runs in that season, Gill had smashed 33 sixes.
His highest score in that season was a 129-run knock versus Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI). Notably, Shubman Gill had smashed a match-winning century against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2023 and had sealed a spot for Gujarat in the finals.
