Former English Legend Sir Geoffrey Boycott Goes Through Successful Surgery

According to an update from the daughter of Sir Geoffrey Boycott, Emma Boycott, Geoffrey Boycott has undergone a successful surgery for his throat cancer. He had initially suffered a throat cancer at the age of 62 in 2002 and the caner had relapsed, last month as confirmed by him.

“Just to let everyone know my father, Geoffrey, has successfully come out of surgery this evening after a three-hour operation to remove his throat cancer,” posted his daughter.

“Yet to see him but the surgeon says it went well. He asked that I post an update, she added.

Sir Geoffrey Boycott had dropped a bombshell of a tweet last year when he said that his cancer had relapsed and that he had to undergone an operation to get rid of it.

“In the last few weeks I have had an MRI Scan, CT Scan, a PET Scan and two biopsies, and it has now been confirmed I have throat cancer and will require an operation,” he stated. “From past experience, I realise that to overcome cancer a second time I will need excellent medical treatment and quite a bit of luck, and even if the operation is successful, every cancer patient knows they have to live with the possibility of it returning. So I will just get on with it and hope for the best,” read hi statement last month.

Sir Geoffrey Boycott is a legendary figure of England

Having played 108 Tests and scoring 8114 runs alongside scoring 151 first-class centuries between 1962 to 1986, Sir Geoffrey Boycott had carved a niche for himself in this industry.

He was undoubtedly, one of England’s opening batter and is credited to having coined the phrase, “Corridor of Uncertainty”. It is an area outside the off-stump of a batter, along the 4th and 5th stump, which is considered as a danger zone for the batters.

The batters can easily poke an edge and can get caught at the slip cordon if a bowler exploits this.
