Parthiv Patel, one of the finest wicketkeepers in India bids farewell to all forms of cricket. He announced in MS Dhoni’s style and penned down a long emotional post sharing his best moments of cricket career. And, with his international cricket career spanned around 18 years comes to an end.
The 35-year-old broke into the national team back in 2002 and he became the youngest wicket-keeper to play in Tests at the age of 17 years and 153 days. But, he failed to retain his position in Team India and lost his place to Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni. He played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs, and a couple of T20Is for India. Overall he amassed 1706 international runs and 11240 runs in first-class cricket.

Parthiv Patel Announces Shocking Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket
The short-heightened wicketkeeper is a highly talented wicketkeeper-batsman. But, he had to face some big challenges throughout his career. Earlier, MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik were given preference ahead of Ahemdabad-born players. Later on. Wriddhiman Saha emerged as the first-choice stumper of the team. Although, he was not a consistent face on the national side. But, he was more than a regular face in the Indian Premier League and domestic circuit.
He has several accolades to his name in international cricket and IPL as well. Parthiv Patel played a vital cog in for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2015 as he amassed 319 runs for the blues. Courtesy of his quickfire knocks as an opener that helped MI in lifting the title in that respective year. Later on, he also smashed a brilliant ton and lead Gujarat to its maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy title.
In an interview, Parthiv Patel pointed towards some of his cherishing moments from his early days. And, he got emotional describing some of them in an interaction.
“I remember the match vividly. We should have won that match against Delhi. I played against some established players on the circuit like Ashish Nehra, Aakash Chopra, Ajay Jadeja, Gautam Gambhir, Mithun Manhas, Amit Bhandari, Sarandeep Singh, Vijay Dahiya. Delhi was 102 for nine chasing 156. We almost won. It was a good start to my career,” Parthiv had told Sportstar.
