Kumble entered the first-class cricket scene for Karnataka in 1989, where he achieved his maiden four-wicket haul against Hyderabad. Impressed by his skills, he was chosen for the Under-19 squad’s match against Pakistan. His outstanding play earned him a spot on the national team.

This right-arm leg spinner astonished everyone when he achieved the remarkable feat of dismissing all 10 players for just 74 runs over 26.3 overs in his 26.3 overs stint in the fourth innings of the Delhi Test against Pakistan, which kicked off on February 4, 1999.

This was a record-breaking performance, surpassing the achievement of Jim Laker from England, who also managed to take 10 wickets for Australia on July 26, 1956. Beyond this, Kumble has recorded 5 instances of taking 35 wickets in Test matches and 8 occasions where he has taken 10 or more wickets.

In his cricketing career, Kumble has supported the IPL team Bangalore Royal Challengers, initially as their captain and currently in a role as an administrator.

Anil achieved a remarkable feat by dismissing 10 players for only 74 runs in just over 26 overs during a test match against Pakistan at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi on February 7, 1999. This made Anil Kumble the second player globally to accomplish this feat. Before him, England’s off-spinner Jim Laker had set a record by achieving the same in a match.

He also holds the unique record of achieving 337 wickets across 265 matches in 271 ODIs. Anil Kumble also served as the captain of the Indian cricket team for a year, starting in November 2007. Anil Kumble stepped down from international cricket in March 2007.
