It was a one-sided contest in the 2nd innings as Los Angeles Knight Riders surrendered in front of MI New York. Chasing a modest total of 156 runs, Los Angeles Knight Riders folded for a paltry score of 50 runs in the ongoing Major League Cricket 2023.

This was the heaviest defeat incurred by a side in the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket 2023. Batting first, MI New York put on 155 runs on the board. Tim David scored an unbeaten knock of 48* runs in 21 balls.

His fireworks essentially powered MI New Yorks to a respectable score. Nicholas Pooran was the second highest run-getter for MI New York as he scored 38 runs.

Adam Zampa, Corne Dry and Ali Khan starred with the white-cherry for Los Angeles Knight Riders as they picked up 2 wickets.

In response, Los Angeles Knight Riders lost the plot and succumbed to some disciplined bowling from MI New York. Opener Martin Guptill registered his second duck on the trot in the tournament and the downfall started from there.

Unmukt Chand was the only batter who displayed application

Former India U-19 captain Unmukt Chand scored 26 runs in 26 balls and was the leading run-scorer of Los Angeles Knight Riders. None of the other batters reached even double digits.

Los Angeles Knight Riders’ shambolic performance raises a lot of questions as this is their second successive loss in the ongoing Major League Cricket 2023. In the first game of the tournament, they had lost to Texas Super Kings by 69 runs.

Sunil Narine and co. remain rooted to the bottom of the table and need to go back to the drawing board and fix their gameplan and approach ahead of their next game.

Los Angeles Knight Riders next play San Francisco Unicorns on 19th July 2023. On the other hand, MI New York next lock horns with Texas Super Kings on 18th July 2023.
