SA20 2023: Matthew Wade Will Be Playing For Joburg Super Kings

For the remaining SA20 matches, Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade will play for the Joburg Super Kings. Wade who played in 97 ODIs, 75 T20s, and 36 Tests, was a key member of Australia’s T20 World Cup-winning team in 2021 in the United Arab Emirates. 

The 35-year-old, Wade participated in the Big Bash League for the Hobart Hurricanes and spent the majority of his time playing first-class cricket for Victoria. The Hurricanes were eliminated from the ongoing playoff rounds after finishing sixth in the eight-team regular season round-robin stage.

Wade scored 307 runs in the BBL at an average of 25.28 and a strike rate of 131.19. Wade last played for Australia at the T20 World Cup in November of last year. He last played in an ODI and a Test in 2021 against the West Indies and India, respectively.

Wade is the most recent of a group of foreign players to join the SA20 in place of other players who have left for international action. Tim David joined the Mumbai Indians Cape Town, while David Willey and Ben McDermott joined Durban’s Super Kings.
