Paris Saint-Germain is having a great summer transfer window. These signings done by the Paris-based club are high profile thus fans are also comparing them with Real Madrid’s Galactico arrivals of 2009. The club came very close to the UEFA Champions League trophy in past seasons but missed it in crucial moments. PSG enjoyed domestic success a lot in the past decade and is aiming to do the same on European levels which is evident after such signings. Although Recently Lille ended PSG’s three-year consecutive reign of claiming the French League title.

New chapter for Georginio Wijnaldum

Gini Wijnaldum had a pivotal role in Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool core which conquered UEFA Champions League and Premier League as well. He was set to join FC Barcelona to play under Dutch gaffer Ronald Koeman after his Liverpool contract expiration. But PSG hijacked this free transfer move at the last moment and convinced Dutch midfielder by offering him twice the wages compared to Barcelona’s offer.

The 30-year-old will earn reportedly €10 million wages after taxes from Les Parisiens. His style of play is quite underrated and underappreciated in top-division European football. He played all-around midfield during his Liverpool stay under Klopp with a lesser impact on the scoresheet. But opposite to that, his game turns more attacking in Netherlands national team where he recently played a goal-poacher role during Euro 2020. It shows his all-around skills and adaptability which will help him to gain more game time at PSG.

Gladiator at back

The former Real Madrid captain is highly regarded as the greatest central defender of this generation. He wanted to end his career in Madrid but circumstances did not favor it. The 35-year-old asked two-year contract from the Madrid board, although he was convinced of one year contract later but the board already withdrew that offer till then.

After departure from Madrid, PSG did not hesitate a bit and agreed to all his terms which were refused by his former club. He will don his favorite number 4 jersey which is worn by him since the beginning of his football journey. Ramos won’t get permanent first-choice status in presence of captain Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe but it’ll be interesting to see how Pochettino manages them.

Achraf Hakimi on mission

The 22-year-old Madrid-born Moroccan right-back is a product of Real Madrid’s youth system La Fábrica. After spending two years at German outfit Borussia Dortmund on loan, he turned down Madrid’s intentions to extension and urged his transfer move. He had a breakthrough season with Inter Milan where he helped them to win the first Scudetto since the 2009-10 treble-winning season.

PSG upgraded right-back position by adding Achraf Hakimi for €60 million transfer fee and heavy add-ons. He has the potential of becoming the best full-back in the world and his PSG will surely help him to achieve it. His high attacking nature and transformation as a right-wing-back will compliment PSG’s high-profile attackers perfectly.

Most Valuable Player of Euro 2020 for free!

Gianluigi Donnarumma had a lucrative Milan career where he made over 200+ appearances after coming from youth ranks. He made his Milan debut at the age of just sixteen and soon became the first-choice goalie for Rossoneri. After securing the 2020-21 Serie A Best Goalkeeper award, he continued his purple patch in Euro 2020 too. He was unable to agree on contract extension terms with AC Milan and decided to pursue a career at PSG after the expiration of the Milan contract in June. It’s a steal deal when you land the most valuable player of Euro 2020 on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old signed a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain assuring his Paris stay until 2026. Paris reportedly offered him around $14.3 million salary plus bonuses to represent Les Parisiens. He will have to fight Costa Rican veteran Keylor Navas for the first-choice goalkeeper position. But a healthy fight with Navas for few seasons will help him to ensure his long-term stay at the club.

The final piece of the Galactico puzzle

Lionel Messi’s Barcelona exit was controversial and heartbreaking as well. He had to bid adieu to his childhood club due to circumstances, where he spent 21 years of his footballing career. Paris Saint-Germain made numerous attempts to get his signature in past but the Argentine striker had no intentions to leave Barca. But when the correct time came, PSG was the first one to contact free agent Leo and grabbed the golden opportunity wholeheartedly.

Messi penned down a two-year contract with Paris based club and also an option to extend for a further year. He will earn around $41 million annual wages including bonuses from PSG. Club’s forward line was already filled with the likes of Mbappé, Neymar, Di Maria, Icardi, and Sarabia thus Messi’s arrival makes it more deadly. Leo is Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s last trump card to complete his Champions League dream.

Lionel Messi’s PSG salary breakdown in rupees:

Per Year₹305 crores
Per Month₹25 crores
Per Week₹6.3 crores
Per Day₹84 lakhs
Per Hour₹3.5 lakhs
Per Minute₹5,864

Apart from these signings, the Paris Saint-Germain board is very confidential on keeping the Neymar-Mbappé duo at the club. Neymar already signed a contract extension which will keep him until 2026. And Nasser Al-Khelaifi seems very confident about French poster boy Kylian Mbappé’s renewal and the club will try their best to not lose him to Real Madrid for free.
