Amidst a string of death-bowling issues and concerns, the Mumbai Indians (MI) team management has signed English fast bowler Chris Jordan as a replacement player for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

Two of the main bowlers of MI in the form of Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson have already been ruled out of IPL 2023. Jofra Archer has been struggling with a few issues and has missed a lot of matches in IPL 2023 already.

Chris Jordan initially was unsold in the IPL 2023 auctions that took place in December. He will now be a part of the MI camp and is available for selection for the remaining matches of the 5-time IPL champions.

Chris Jordan has won the ICC T20 World Cup 2022

Chris Jordan was part of the England team that lifted the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The Three Lions beat Pakistan in the finals and had comprehensively beaten India in the semi-finals by 10 wickets.

Jordan had bagged 5 wickets in the World Cup and is a very good death bowler. He has previously plied his trade for IPL franchises such as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

He has so far played 28 IPL matches and has bagged 27 wickets. Jordan is a reliable death-overs specialist and has a few variations up his sleeve.

Mumbai Indians have had a rollercoaster ride in IPL 2023 so far. After losing their first two matches to RCB and CSK, they staged a terrific comeback. The MI Paltans then registered 3 wins on the trot before again losing two matches on the bounce.

The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai presently are in the 7th position in the IPL 2023 points table and are coming on the back of a win against Rajasthan Royals (RR). They became the first team to chase 200+ runs at the Wankhede Stadium.

Tim David’s willow produced some fireworks as he smashed 3 sixes off the first 3 balls of the last over against Jason Holder. Mumbai Indians broke into a state of jubilation post that victory.
