In a high-scoring encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the Delhi Capitals recorded their fourth win of the season by defeating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in Match 50 of IPL 2023.

The Delhi Capital’s victory was powered by a scintillating knock of 87 runs off just 45 balls by Phil Salt, which included six boundaries and six towering sixes.

The aggressive opener was well supported by Mitchell Marsh and Rilee Rossouw, who chipped in with quick-fire knocks of 26 off 17 balls and an unbeaten 35 off 22 balls respectively.

Earlier in the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening duo of Kohli and du Plessis got the team off to a flying start, with Kohli reaching his fifty off 42 balls.

In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a great start, with David Warner and Phil Salt attacking the bowlers right from the start. Salt’s aggressive batting helped him reach his second IPL fifty off just 28 balls.

The partnership between Salt and Marsh was finally broken by Harshal Patel, who replaced Kedar Jadhav as the Impact Player in the eighth over. However, Salt and Rossouw took the attack to Patel in the 15th over, smashing three sixes and a four to bring the required run rate below five.

Salt’s fantastic innings finally came to an end when he dragged one onto the stumps off Karn Sharma with 11 needed off 28. But it was too little too late for Royal Challengers Bangalore as Rossouw finished off the match in style with a six over deep mid-wicket.

Overall, it was a well-deserved victory for the Delhi Capitals, who displayed some fantastic batting and bowling throughout the match. In the upcoming clashes, Delhi Capitals will be looking to build on this performance in their upcoming matches.

Phil Salt was the star of the show for Delhi as he scored a blistering 87 off just 45 balls, hitting seven sixes and four fours. His innings was the cornerstone of Delhi’s successful run chase.
