KL Rahul To Lead RCB

The IPL 2025 mega auction is set to be a key moment for all franchises, including RCB.

As we are expecting changes in IPL landscape, all eyes will be on KL Rahul and his potential return to RCB.

Reports indicate that KL Rahul, currently with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), is a leading candidate to take over as captain for RCB.

The IPL retention policies and player salaries will be discussed in a meeting with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the end of July, which will set the stage for player movements and strategic decisions leading up to the IPL 2025 auction.

KL Rahul’s Potential Move to RCB

KL Rahul has been a prominent figure in the IPL, having captained LSG since their inception in 2022. However, following a disappointing seventh-place finish in the 2024 season, discussions about his future with LSG have intensified.

Sources suggest that Rahul may be considering a return to RCB, where he previously played from 2013 to 2016, and where he had a successful stint, scoring 397 runs in 14 innings during his last season with the team.

RCB is reportedly in search of an Indian captain, and Rahul, being a local player from Bengaluru, fits the profile perfectly. His leadership experience and familiarity with the franchise make him an attractive option as RCB aims to break their title drought.

Leadership Dynamics at RCB

Currently, RCB is led by Faf du Plessis, but the franchise is exploring options for a new Indian captain. With Rahul’s proven track record and his ability to handle the pressures of captaincy, he could provide the leadership stability RCB needs moving forward.

Additionally, if RCB were to pursue other leadership candidates, they might also consider players like Suryakumar Yadav or even Rohit Sharma, should they part ways with Mumbai Indians (MI).
