Robin Uthappa played a vital knock in a crucial qualifier 1 for Chennai Super Kings against Delhi Capitals. The right-handed batsman, who was kept on the bench in the majority of IPL 2021, lavished praise for Chennai Super Kings as a franchise. The right-handed Indian batsman mentioned that after KKR, he feels CSK is one of the most secure franchises of the tournament.

Robin Uthappa played one of the most important knocks for CSK in the qualifier. He stepped onto the field when CSK lost their top form opener Faf du Plessis for a duck. Many fans thought of Moeen Ali coming at number three but that was not the case. MS Dhoni asked Robin Uthappa to take the field in order to rescue former champions from the crucial situation. And, Uthappa lived up to everyone’s expectation sitting in the CSK’s dugout. He smashed 63 runs off 44 balls studded with seven boundaries and two sixes.

Robin Uthappa feels CSK is one of the secured franchise

Post-match, Robin Uthappa was quizzed over the fact how he feels to be part of CSK after spending long years with KKR. To which, the Indian cricketer replied saying that Chennai Super Kings is one of the safest franchises after KKR in his opinion.

“I always maintain that this has been one of the most secure franchises going around and everyone feels secure within the group and I think that only makes a player only give that much more to the franchise,” Uthappa was quoted as saying after the match.

The veteran Indian cricketer added that he felt secured under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy. But after that, he has found the same sense of security while playing for CSK under MS Dhoni’s captaincy.

“After KKR, when Gauti was the captain, I really enjoyed myself there and felt really secure in that group but after that, this is the most secure, I’ve felt while playing cricket in a while,” he stated.

“Happy that I was able to contribute. Today is my son’s birthday and this one’s for him. When I went out to bat, we knew we needed a good start, so I just tried to react to the ball and play according to the merit,” Uthappa added

Coming onto the match, DC managed a score of 172 runs for a loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. And, Chennai Super Kings chased down the target with two balls to spare in their kitty. In the last couple of overs, MS Dhoni played a quick cameo of 18 runs off 6 balls and guided his side to its 10th final of the Indian Premier League history.
