Nominated by former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricketer Imran Khan, Ramiz Raza has been at the helm of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) since September 2021. Since then, the former commentator and cricket pundit has been publicly sending threats to India that they would be boycotting the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 if India does not come to the Asia Cup 2023 which will be taking place in Pakistan.

After Imran Khan resigned from his post and the new Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Shariff came into authority, Raza has been in the firing line. The Prime Minister of Pakistan is the patron of PCB and he has complete authority over the selection and nomination of the PCB President.

“Yes, something is going on definitely. Rumours are strong that Najam Sethi who recently met with the premier at a function in Lahore might be called up to replace Ramiz as Chairman,” said a PCB official.

The former PCB President Najam Sethi is a very renowned Pakistani journalist and help the PCB chairmanship for 2 terms. He might be replacing the former cricketer Ramiz Raza as the head of PCB.

Imran Khan had suggested the name of Ramiz Raza as head of PCB

When Imran Khan had won the 2018 elections, Sethi had resigned from his post. This was because he did not get along well with Khan. Imran Khan then suggested Ramiz Raza’s name as the President of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

England recently beat Pakistan at their home turf and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match Test series. The Three Lions visited the subcontinent country after 17 long years and the duo of Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes were absolutely on song.

Ramiz Raza has played 57 Test matches and 198 ODIs for the Pakistan cricket team. He has scored 2833 runs and 5841 runs in the two formats respectively. Ramiz Raza was also infamously known for being the first batter to be given out via “obstructing the field” mode of dismissal. This came in 1987 and Pakistan was playing against England.
